“Free ‘Breaking Dawn Part 2’ tickets” Facebook scam

The penultimate movie in The Twilight Saga has not yet arrived to cinemas, but cyber scammers have decided on an even bigger attraction to lure Internet users into sharing their personal information: the log-awaited last installment – Breaking Dawn Part 2 – which is scheduled to be released in November 2012.

Facebook users who are also diehard fans of the saga are currently being targeted with an offer of free tickets for the last movie.

The first thing that is required of them is to share the link on their Wall. Then, the user is redirected to a page where it says that he is required to take a quick survey to qualify for the tickets. Once he answers the question, he is asked to share his email address.

Finally, a confirmation page appears, where he’s supposed to enter his name, address, date of birth, cell phone and home number:

There is no doubt that all this information will be used for future scams – the email address and cell phone number for spamming and phishing, and the rest for more elaborate fraud attempts.

Predictably, once the information is given, there are no free tickets to be had – only additional surveys.
