Guardent Opens State-Of-The-Art R&D Facility in Atlanta

Appoints Gerard Brady as CTO to Drive Company’s New Innovation Engine; Taps Industry Experts to Develop Market-Driven Technologies

WALTHAM, Mass., May 16 /PRNewswire/ — Guardent Inc., the leading provider of security and privacy programs for Global 2000 organizations, today announced that it opened a new, state-of-the-art research and development facility in Atlanta, Georgia, called Guardent Labs. The innovation engine that powers the rapidly growing company, Guardent Labs develops new security management and infrastructure technologies that boost the company’s comprehensive array of consulting and managed services.

As part of this strategic move, Guardent also announced that security pioneer, Gerard Brady, has been promoted to chief technology officer. Prior to joining Guardent, Brady held executive positions at Internet Security Systems and Prudential Insurance. As CTO, Brady will direct all research and development efforts in Guardent’s Atlanta and Waltham facilities and will manage an elite team of security and privacy experts that hail from organizations such as AT&T, BellSouth Cellular, ISS, Microsoft, Northern Telecom and the U.S. Department of Treasury.

“Jerry’s charter is to provide Guardent with the tools and technology to fuel the growth of our burgeoning managed services and consulting businesses,” said Maria Cirino, Guardent’s chief executive officer. “This promotion recognizes his success in building both a world-class R&D team and delivering an integrated managed services approach that provides the most scalable and cost-effective solution in the security and privacy services industry.”

In addition to providing market-driven technologies that keep Guardent at the forefront of security and privacy, Guardent Labs already is renowned for its ability to discover, analyze, document and remediate security flaws that exist in the Internet infrastructure. In fact, last week the Labs teamed with Carnegie Mellon’s Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT) to release its research on the TCP Sequence Number (ISN) vulnerability that was announced in March 2001.

Commenting on the new research and development facility, Brady said, “As the technological glue for Guardent’s integrated security and privacy services, the Labs not only provide advancements that enhance our robust service offerings, but also improve the quality and performance of best-of- breed technologies, making security more manageable, flexible and effective for our growing list of customers.”
