BEDFORD, Mass. and SHANNON, Ireland, May 31 /PRNewswire/ — RSA Security Inc. (Nasdaq: RSAS), the most trusted name in e-security(TM), today announced the opening of a new operation in Shannon, Ireland. The Shannon facility will serve as a beachhead for RSA Security’s manufacturing and operations in the rapidly growing international market, targeting companies native to Europe as well as multi-national organizations with operations in the region. From the Shannon office, RSA Security will perform the final programming operation for its RSA SecurID(R) two-factor authentication devices and deliver logistical service and support to RSA Security’s expanding strategic partner and customer base in Europe, Africa and Asia.
The new plant, backed by Shannon Development, is a further example of the commitment RSA Security has to the growing international security industry. World-wide security products, managed security services and PKI products and services expenditures will grow 328 percent, from $5.3 billion to $22.7 billion between 2001 and 2005, according to Infonetics Research.
“With offices located in more than 30 countries and strategic partners in 20 more around the world, RSA Security’s strategy is to expand its global reach in support of customer requirements and market growth, and to provide a manufacturing facility to service customers and partners locally,” said Art Coviello, president and CEO at RSA Security. “With the opening of our new facility in Shannon, we believe RSA Security customers, including Credit Suisse, Lufthansa and Rolls Royce & Bentley Motor Cars, will benefit from the enhanced level of service we can offer.”
“This investment by RSA Security in Shannon is in line with Government policy on the type and quality of inward investment we are now seeking to attract to Ireland,” said Mary Harney, Tanaiste and Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment in Ireland. “RSA Security’s presence in Ireland will add to the country’s emerging profile as a leading e-business centre in Europe. It will also add significantly to the local e-business and software skill base now emerging in the cluster of new technology companies in the Shannon Free Zone.
