Protegrity Achieves Its Second Check Point OPSEC Certification for Secure.Data Database Privacy Solution

STAMFORD, Conn.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Jan. 22, 2002–

Protegrity’s Secure.Data Integrates with

Industry’s Most Recognized Security Framework

Protegrity, Inc., the world’s leading database-security software provider, today announced that the industry’s most comprehensive encryption-based privacy system for highly confidential data within enterprise databases has achieved its second OPSEC(R) Open Platform for Security certification from Check Point(TM) Software Technologies’ (NASDAQ: CHKP). Protegrity’s Secure.Data solution fully supports Check Point’s acclaimed VPN-1(R)/FireWall-1(R) Next Generation (NG) security solutions via the new OPSEC NG interfaces.

The recent certification is specific to Secure.Data for Oracle running on the Sun Solaris(TM) UNIX(R) operating system and its compatibility with Check Point’s Secure Virtual Network (SVN) architecture. In May, Protegrity announced that its Secure.Data for Oracle on Microsoft Windows(TM) NT was the first database-security software to earn OPSEC certification using Check Point’s UserAuthority(TM) interface. Along with the newest certification, the OPSEC program has also extended Protegrity’s certification to apply to all Secure.Data-supported database solutions on the NT and UNIX platforms, which together encompass approximately 80 percent of the Check Point firewall market.

“Achieving OPSEC certification helps to build synergy and compatibility between our two very complementary technologies and ultimately a stronger security deliverable for our combined customer base,” said Bertil Tiusanen, president and chief executive officer of Protegrity. “We look forward to continuing the expansion of our data-privacy solutions and earning certified interoperability status with the security industry’s most prevalent and trusted technologies.”

The combination of Check Point and Protegrity security solutions provides customers with an information-security “chain-of-trust” from secure Web and end-user environments to the protection of data within database applications. By utilizing Check Point authentication credentials from the firewall, organizations can incorporate the trusted identities of users into the Protegrity Secure.Data access control and encryption process actively protecting data within the database. This provides more transparent authentication of users, greater granularity in the authorization of users to encrypted data, and overall streamlined security between Check Point-secured Internet communications and Protegrity protection of data-at-rest.
