Intrusion SecureNet 2245 Prices Leading Network Intrusion Detection for Remote and Branch Offices

RICHARDSON, Texas–(BUSINESS WIRE)–June 17, 2002–

With Intrusion SecureNet 2245, Enterprises Can Now Afford To Extend the Benefits and Security of Network Intrusion Detection to The Entire Wide-Area Network

Extending its leading product line of appliance based network intrusion detection sensors, Intrusion Inc. (Nasdaq:INTZ), a leading provider of intrusion detection solutions for the information-driven economy, today announced the Intrusion SecureNet 2245 network intrusion detection sensor.

The SecureNet 2245 sensor extends the reach of the Intrusion SecureNet system to remote and branch offices that need to be covered by the security umbrella of the enterprise at a price point appropriate for smaller locations.

“Intrusion Inc. invented the market for network IDS sensors built for the varied deployments in the enterprise network,” said Ryon Packer, vice president of product management, business development and marketing for Intrusion Inc. “This new sensor allows the enterprise to use a single security policy from the high performance perimeter IDSes to the branch office with a price point that’s suitable for smaller enterprise deployments.”

Intrusion SecureNet 2245 provides a highly deployable and manageable intrusion detection sensor, that provides all of the benefits of the SecureNet Series for networks up to 10Mb/s. The sensor includes both hardware and software for under $6,700.

“Far flung organizations that deploy firewalls, IDS and other network security solutions in major data centers also look for equivalent capabilities for branch locations,” said Eric Hemmendinger, research director at Aberdeen Group. “With its new offering, Intrusion is delivering an IDS offering that meets the performance and pricing requirements for branch offices, and squashes the notion that IDS solutions are only for those organizations with large budgets.”

The Intrusion SecureNet 2245 sensor is based on an 8-1/2×11″ appliance that is just 1-3/4″ tall, so it’s easy to deploy on desktops or in racks. The appliance has all of the same features as Intrusion’s other network IDSes for staging, management, monitoring and remote diagnostic features that reduce the total cost ownership (TCO) of deployed security systems. Furthering TCO savings, the appliances have no keyboard, video, mouse attachments or externally accessible drives – so the user at remote and branch offices cannot affect the sensor. All management is done centrally from Intrusion SecureNet Provider 3-tier management system.

Pricing and Availability

Intrusion SecureNet 2245 sensors and the rest of the Intrusion SecureNet Series is available now with prices starting at under $6,700 for hardware and software combined. The SecureNet 2245 sensor joins the complete line of IDS sensors from Intrusion Inc. including the Intrusion SecureNet CC 7345, the only network IDS listed under evaluation for Common Criteria, SecureNet 7145 for Gigabit networks, SecureNet 5545 for saturated 100Mb/s networks, and SecureNet 2445 for average usage 100Mb/s networks.
