RSA ClearTrust Web Access Management Supports Leading Data Stores to Allow for Better Data Utilization, Efficiency

Broad support reduces maintenance costs and provides high levels of interoperability

BEDFORD, Mass., June 24, 2002 — RSA Security Inc. (Nasdaq: RSAS), the most trusted name in e-security®, today announced that its RSA ClearTrust® Web access management solution has expanded its support of data repositories and directories to include Microsoft® Active Directory, Novell® eDirectoryâ„?, Sun ONE Directory Server, and Syntegra Aphelion Directory and Global Directory. This expanded support is designed to help organizations better utilize existing user information and data that is spread across the enterprise, thereby helping to reduce deployment and maintenance costs and increase efficiency.

The RSA ClearTrust Web access management solution is designed to be an easy-to-deploy, rules-based solution that centrally controls and manages user access privileges to Web-based resources based on definable user attributes, business rules and security policies. This new wide range of database, datastore and directory service support reflects RSA Security’s commitment to provide high levels of interoperability and best-of-breed solutions that deliver lower total cost of ownership by leveraging customers’ existing and future IT environments.

“Today, user data is in repositories everywhere and it is unreasonable to expect an enterprise to install a new directory to manage it,” said Pete Lindstrom, Director, Security Strategies, Hurwitz Group. “The real test is being able to manage this data from a single interface, regardless of where it is stored. Leveraging existing datastores provides obvious benefits for implementations while the mantra of anytime, anywhere security management is addressed.”

RSA ClearTrust software is designed to deliver a centralized access management framework that allows enterprises to leverage existing IT investments and draw from dynamically changing user data that is distributed across the enterprise, with pertinent user information stored in a variety of databases and repositories. The additional support announced today expands the native reach and eliminates the need for each application to access the respective user data independently, reducing costly and redundant data entry and management, as well as latency issues in regard to new or updated data.

“RSA ClearTrust software is designed to deliver greater ease of use and productivity, out-of-box integration and simplified management across the enterprise,” said Matt Kramer, vice president of marketing for Syntegra in the United States. “We consider it a real asset to be able to offer this kind of support to our enterprise directory services customer base.”

RSA Security has achieved this rapid rollout of support by utilizing the Data Abstraction Layer (DAL) in RSA ClearTrust software, a unique architectural approach that is designed to allow existing user identity stores to be leveraged natively, including Lightweight Directory Access protocol (LDAP) compliant directories and SQL databases. In addition, RSA Security has created a dedicated porting and integration team that is rapidly developing and certifying additional third-party solutions utilizing this technology.

“RSA ClearTrust Web access management helps provide the flexibility to any organization to leverage one of their most valuable assets – the data that already exists in their existing identity stores,” said Joe Uniejewski, senior vice president of the Web Access Management division at RSA Security. “The broad new range of support announced today further delivers on our mission to make RSA ClearTrust Web access management the most highly interoperable Web access management tool on the market, helping our customers achieve a greater return on investment and rapid rollout.”
