WatchGuard Announces New Firebox SOHO 6 Products
New Appliances Feature High Performance and Multiple Interfaces
SEATTLE, WA – August 12, 2002 — WatchGuard Technologies, Inc. (Nasdaq: WGRD), a leading provider of Internet security solutions, today announced its new Firebox SOHO 6, Firebox SOHO 6tc, and Firebox SOHO 6tc – 50 user models. The new Firebox SOHO 6 models integrate WatchGuard’s proven SOHO security features with a new custom-built high performance hardware platform that delivers 75 Mbps firewall and 20 Mbps VPN throughputs. The Firebox SOHO 6 products provide central office management access with 3DES security and can network up to 50 computers to exchange e-mail and files, and to share a broadband Internet connection, printers, and other peripherals. The Firebox SOHO 6tc – 50-user is designed for larger remote offices with more than 10 users.
The Firebox SOHO 6 models are economical, easily deployed high-performance firewall, VPN, and broadband sharing appliances for small businesses or remote offices requiring superior network security. They secure networks with advanced dynamic stateful packet filtering, application level gateways, and optional Web content filtering and feature six 10/100 Fast Ethernet interfaces (4 LAN and 2 WAN). WatchGuard plans to enable the 2nd WAN interface in future Firebox SOHO 6 software releases, offering additional upgrade and expansion opportunities to protect the users’ original investment.
In addition, the SOHO 6 models come with a Mobile User VPN option that enables traveling users to establish DES or 3DES encrypted VPN tunnels. The Mobile User VPN option also includes a personal firewall to protect laptops when they are outside the corporate network.
“Our new high performance, plug-and-play Firebox SOHO 6 security appliances are redefining the performance and price equation for the low-end firewall/VPN market,” said Jean Nassar, Senior Vice President of Marketing. “These SOHO products continue our commitment to the SME and SOHO markets by providing superior security features on a new high performance platform.”
The SOHO 6 models comply with the industry-standard ICSA Firewall certification, enabling integration with existing security solutions. Each Firebox SOHO 6 model includes a 90-day subscription to our unique LiveSecurity Service and one year of McAfee VirusScan ASaP desktop anti-virus protection.
The suggested list price for the Firebox SOHO 6 is $469; the suggested list price for the Firebox SOHO 6tc is $629; and $899 for a SOHO 6tc-50 User version.
The Firebox SOHO 6 models are expected to be available through WatchGuard resellers in North and South America later in the third quarter of 2002.
