Analyst Firm Ranks NetScreen the Fastest Growing Security Appliance Vendor in VPN & Firewall Market
GUILDFORD, U.K., Dec. 6, 2002—NetScreen Technologies Inc. (Nasdaq: NSCN) today announced it was ranked by IDC, a leading worldwide market share and analyst research firm, as the fastest growing vendor in the firewall and virtual private network (VPN) appliance market.*
According to IDC’s annual report titled “Worldwide Security Appliance Forecast and Analysis 2002 – 2006: Hardware Continues to be the Choice of Security Software Deployment” (November 2002), NetScreen revenue grew by 136 percent in 2001, four times the overall firewall and VPN market, which grew approximately 34 percent the same year. Additionally, for the second year in a row, NetScreen led the category of $50,000 and above solutions for high-end large enterprise and service providers with a 47 percent market share.
The report also demonstrates that a majority of the firewall-VPN market is made up of appliances, surpassing software-based solutions. Further, the report summarizes that successful vendors in the space will integrate technologies beyond firewall and VPN into their product offerings.
