Datakey Introduces Model 330J Java Card

The Model 330J delivers multi-application capability and broad interoperability with the complete list of standard security applications currently supported by Datakey CIP middleware MINNEAPOLIS, Feb. 3, 2003 – Datakey Inc. (Nasdaq: DKEY; www.datakey.com), a trusted developer of smart card solutions for securing e-business, today introduced its Model 330J Java Cardâ„?. The 330J card meets the highest levels of multi-application card security and efficiency, is fully compatible with Datakey CIP client software and other industry-leading information security products, and supports important U.S. government smart card initiatives.

“Our customers have chosen Datakey technology to secure access to their business applications. Datakey CIP software and our Model 330 smart cards consistently deliver the security and interoperability required for these applications,” said Tim Russell, vice president and general manager, Datakey. “More and more, our customers want to leverage their smart card investment by adding other applications that may or may not be security-related. The Model 330J allows them to plan for and support these future applications without sacrificing security.”

Highly secure, highly efficient
The Model 330J card features a highly efficient cryptographic and data management applet, built-in to Read-Only Memory (ROM). With this built-in applet that supports a broad range of IT and security applications, the Model 330J card reserves most of its 32K EEPROM for other applications and data storage and enables rapid card deployment by virtually eliminating application personalization.

The card adheres to Open Platform v2.0 standards, but because of its architecture, it also enables simple management of a user’s digital credentials in the field by giving these users the ability to modify the data-only contents of their own card (as allowed by an organization’s security policy).

The Model 330J smart card supports:

RSA sign/decrypt (1024-bit and 2048-bit keys)
DES/3DES encrypt
On-card key generation
SHA-1 cryptographic functions
Multiple keys and certificates
FIPS 140-2 Level 2 requirements
PKCS #11 and MS-CAPI interface requirements
U.S. government smart card interoperability specifications

Complete compatibility with Model 330 version smart cards, CIP client software and industry-leading software
Datakey’s Java Card supports all features of the previous generation Model 330 smart card. It requires no change in CIP middleware. In addition to seamless compatibility with Datakey CIP software, the Model 330J smart card also works flawlessly with other industry-leading software applications to enable a higher level of security, accountability and convenience.

Support for U.S. government initiatives
Datakey’s 330J card meets GSC-IS native card-edge interface requirements. All current and future GSA applications can interface directly with the Model 330J smart card. The Model 330J is an ideal card platform for emerging government smart ID programs – as well as enterprise smart ID programs – where broad interoperability, rapid deployment and future expandability are key requirements.
