Hong Kong Institute Of Vocational Education To Offer Diversinet’s Wireless Security Software For Student Project

Students Will Gain Hands-On Wireless Security Experience

TORONTO, Canada, April 2, 2003 – Diversinet Corp. (NASDAQ SmallCap: DVNTC), a leading provider of secured mobile solutions, today announced that the Hong Kong Institute of Vocational Education, Sha Tin (IVE) has acquired Diversinet’s wireless security software for its Higher Diploma in Computer and Information Engineering course.

Diversinet’s wireless security software will be used by IVE students in a final year project in the Higher Diploma in Computer and Information Engineering course. The project provides students with hands-on experience installing and configuring wireless security systems, using the same wireless security technology employed by Hongkong Post Mobile e-Cert digital certificates. Mobile e-Certs, which are built on Diversinet’s advanced wireless security technology, electronically verifies and authenticates each party involved in a wireless transaction.

The project, “Interfacing PDA with Internet for Secure Medical Application,” has students enabling security for a healthcare application where nurses input patient record information via a PDA device, and the records are accessed by a doctor via desktop.

“We are proud to have our wireless security software used in this project as Diversinet is committed to helping train Hong Kong’s current and future technical community,” said Terence Chau, Vice President, Asia-Pacific, Diversinet Corp.

“In our new course, Higher Diploma in Internet and Multimedia Engineering, Internet security and mobile computing are two important areas,” said Dr. Peter Chiu, Principal Lecturer, IVE. “By receiving hands-on, practical experience, students at IVE will learn quickly how to integrate wireless security in a real-life environment.”

The Hong Kong Institute of Vocational Education provides students in Hong Kong with high quality vocational education and qualifications of international standards, which are directly applicable to the requirements of Hong Kong’s employers and the community.
