CAMBRIDGE, Mass.-April 14, 2003 – DataPower Technology, Inc., the leading provider of intelligent XML-aware network infrastructure announced today that it has appointed former Cisco Systems (NASDAQ: CSCO) executive Jim Ricotta as its chief executive officer and president. Enterprise use of XML, SOAP and Web Services continues to grow at an astounding pace and requires the best XML-aware networking infrastructure for the performance, security and manageability of XML. With tremendous demand for both its DataPower XS40 XML Security Gateway(tm) and DataPower XA35 XML Accelerator(tm) solutions, DataPower has expanded its sales team and opened two additional sales offices on both the East and West Coast. DataPower also formally announced the appointment of Larry D’Angelo as its vice president of sales; Larry has officially been with DataPower since December, 2002.

Jim Ricotta comes to DataPower with over twenty (20) years of experience in the networking and enterprise computing industries. The entire management team is very pleased.”

“Use of XML in the enterprise is exploding and this is driving demand for XML-aware networking devices to solve complex performance and security issues for customers,” said Jim Ricotta, president and CEO at DataPower Technology Inc. “I’m thrilled to be leading DataPower – the only company with four (4) years of experience in this field, the fastest, field-proven XML processing technology that DataPower developed and owns, and a proven senior management team.”

Additionally, Larry D’Angelo joined DataPower as vice president of sales last December and brings a deep knowledge of consultative sales of enterprise software solutions. As vice president Larry leads the DataPower sales organization and is responsible for all field sales operations as well as post-sales customer care and service. Prior to DataPower, Larry was vice president of worldwide sales and service at Revenio, a leading CRM solution provider, where he was responsible for major enterprise accounts that included Agilent, Bank of America, and Boise Cascade.
