Zix Corporation Provides Secure Email Services to Jewish Hospital HealthCare Services and Expands Kentucky Presence
JHHS selects ZixCorp services to support enterprise-wide HIPAA compliance, commitment to exceptional business practices
DALLAS, Jul 8, 2003 (BUSINESS WIRE) — Zix Corporation (ZixCorp(TM)), (Nasdaq:ZIXI), a global provider of e-messaging management and protection services, today announced that Jewish Hospital HealthCare Services (JHHS), the leading center for adult tertiary medical/surgical care in Kentucky and southern Indiana, has selected ZixCorp as its email security provider. The JHHS healthcare network, headquartered in Louisville, joins Kentucky’s two largest health insurers (according to number of members) that have recently deployed ZixCorp services.
JHHS purchased ZixVPM(R) (Zix Virtual Private Messenger), a server-based secure email solution that will initially enable 1,000 users with a secure and private e-messaging channel without the need to create, deploy, or manage end-user encryption keys and software. JHHS will use the ZixVPM HIPAA lexicon that enables the hospital to identify and encrypt protected health information (PHI) in compliance with the security regulations of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA). ZixCorp also conducted a ZixAuditor(R) assessment to review the hospital’s current email policies and identify email security vulnerabilities. In addition to meeting HIPAA regulations, the hospital selected ZixCorp services as a demonstration for responsible customer care and good general business practice to address the risks of communication over open networks. ZixCorp’s interoperability and send-to-anyone capability will help JHHS securely communicate with affiliates, vendors, and physicians.
