Internet Awareness and Advisory Foundation Selects Cobion’s OrangeBox for Family Friendly Filtering

Internet Awareness and Advisory Foundation Selects Cobion’s OrangeBox for Family Friendly Filtering.

Oxford based NGO agrees to promote world-leading Cobion technology, enabling families to block inappropriate Internet content from entering the home.

The IAAF (Internet Awareness and Advisory Foundation) today announced a strategic partnership with Cobion Ltd., (www.cobion.com ), technology leader for Internet and

e-mail content security software.
In a ‘grass roots’ attempt to protect children from exposure to innapropriate images on the Internet, the IAAF (www.netawarenessfoundation.org.uk ) will pay for its ground breaking free seminars through the reselling of Cobions OrangeBox Web Home filtering software. Initially available for download by subscribers, users are able to select their own filtering criteria, with individual settings for each family member, giving parents full control of what children can see and when they may access the Web.

“Reported images of Child Abuse and Pornography are up 64% on last year – we wanted to offer parents the very best Internet filter in the World – there are a huge number of frankly inadequate software filters currently on the market. We found Cobion’s was streets ahead – a product we are 100% happy to endorse,” said Dr Paul Adams-Meconi, Chairman of the IAAF, “What impressed us most was Cobion’s scaleability – not only was it accurate, but their database validates and updates 120,000 websites every day!”

OrangeBox Web Home supports popular browsers on Microsoft platforms and is based on Cobion’s powerful OrangeFilter, the world’s largest and most up-to-date categorized URL filtering database. The filter list consists of over 20 million URLs categorized into 58 content groups. The OrangeFilter represents the analyzed content of more than 2.6 billion web pages, and the list is updated with up to 120.000 new entries every day. The latest filtering information is always accessed directly from the Internet, freeing disk space on subscriber computers and eliminating the need for database maintenance downloads.

“Content filtering has to be context sensitive,” added Adams-Meconi, “and OrangeBox is very clever at identifying the relationship between text and image, before assessing its offensiveness – and it automatically blocks illegal material making trafficking harder for criminals.”

“The IAAF is a great way of educating and securing home Internet access for children” said Tony Anscombe, Cobion’s UK Managing Director, “we at Cobion applaud their efforts, and hope by offering OrangeBox directly to consumers we can all help to stop children from being exposed from adult material.”

A special feature of OrangeBox Web Home is that the filter settings defined by the administrator are tamper-proof. Patented technology ensures that the security software package cannot be deleted by children or unauthorized users.

OrangeBox can be downloaded free via the IAAF website for an initial 30-day trial period.

##### About the IAAF
Founded in 2003 by a mixture of concerned parents, childcare staff and software professionals, the IAAF is a non-profit making educational organisation dedicated to helping parents secure the Internet for their children. Tick Tock Technologies Ltd (www.ticktocktech.com ) is the IAAF’s trading arm, with profits going back into free net awareness seminars and training for parents and education professionals. The IAAF is dedicated to offering world leading software to UK consumers as soon as possible, and will constantly challenge providers to raise the bar so that children will not continue to be exposed to pornography on the web, and assist the authorities in offering no safe harbour for those wanting to distribute illegal paedophile material either from home or business networks.
