Astaro Voted Best Firewall by Linux Enterprise Readers

BURLINGTON, Mass. — November 13, 2003 Astaro (www.astaro.com), makers of the popular Astaro Security Linux, an all-in-one Internet security software appliance with 10,000 installations worldwide, today announced it was voted Best Firewall in a Readers Choice award sponsored by the German publication Linux Enterprise. (http://www.linuxenterprise.de).

The Reader’s Choice award is designed to identify the best among the countless products and tools running on Linux. The list of competitors includes both commercial and free offerings.

Readers were asked to pick their favorite applications and technologies from among 40 products in nine categories. In the crowded category under Firewalls, Astaro won with 65 percent of the vote, more than eight times the amount received by Check Point s [Nasdaq: CHKP] security solution.

The honors mark the company s fourth award in the last five months. Other awards won in 2003 include a LinuxWorld Product Excellence Award; an Excellent comparative review that appeared in Infoworld magazine s August issue, and a Four Stars top-ranking award from SC Magazine s June issue.

We are thrilled by the wonderful feedback from reviewers and our customers, said Jan Hichert, Astaro CEO. This only makes us want to work harder on pleasing our constituents, since suddenly the bar has been raised. We must keep performing to meet the industry s high expectations.
