Zone Labs And Enterasys Networks Announce Interoperability To Enforce Desktop Security Policies

San Francisco, CA. December 15, 2003 Zone Labs® Inc., the most trusted provider of endpoint security solutions, and Enterasys Networks Inc. (NYSE: ETS), a global provider of Business-Driven Networks(TM) for enterprise customers, today announced interoperability between Zone Labs’ Integrity(TM) product and Enterasys’ network infrastructure and security solutions. Integrity complements Enterasys’ Secure Networks approach by providing security policy enforcement for PCs and desktop devices. Customers will benefit from this combined, standards-based, proactive security solution that safeguards enterprise networks from penetration by hackers, hostile code and targeted attacks.

Available today, the Zone Labs/Enterasys solution, which is based on the IEEE 802.1X standard, is a non-proprietary access solution for enterprise-wide security policy enforcement.

A hardware and software solution, the combination of Zone Labs Integrity and Enterasys Secure Networks approach ensures that end-user devices such as PCs, laptops and PDAs are properly configured before access is granted to the network. This integration enables enterprises to be sure that all endpoint devices, whether accessing the network remotely or from inside the corporate perimeter, are in compliance with client system security policies as a prerequisite for network access. This significantly reduces the risks of business disruption and productivity losses for both IT and the organization.

“Enterasys’ Secure Networks approach provides customers the highest levels of security and network resiliency to ensure business continuity and the protection of critical information assets. We believe that a holistic approach to IT security is required to address today’s threat model, and cooperation between highly intelligent, secure networking technology from Enterasys and security vendors such as Zone Labs is advantageous to a wide customer set,” said John Roese, chief technology officer, Enterasys Networks. “The combination of Integrity and our Secure Networks policy architecture provides analysis of end systems, the detection of undesirable end-system configurations, and the network security policy enforcement to keep these end systems from compromising the enterprise network.”

In contrast to proprietary solutions, support for the industry-standard 802.1X and Extensible Authentication Protocol (EAP) enables Integrity to enforce comprehensive endpoint security policies on all access devices via IEEE industry-standard products, including Enterasys multilayer switching, wireless LAN and network management solutions.

In addition, Enterasys has achieved Zone Labs’ C SA (Cooperative Security Alliance) certification for Enterasys’ Matrix switches and RoamAbout wireless LAN products, which have been successfully tested with Integrity, using Zone Labs’ Cooperative Enforcement technology.

“We are pleased to welcome Enterasys to Zone Labs’ C SA program,” said Paul Weinstein, vice president, strategic alliances, Zone Labs. “Zone Labs is dedicated to working with best-in-class innovators to deliver proactive solutions that defend enterprise networks from ever-evolving security hazards.”

Zone Labs’ Integrity, the company’s best-in-class, centrally-managed endpoint security solution, combines protection for every network endpoint with central security management capabilities to offer the broadest standards-based support for enterprise-wide policy enforcement for today’s borderless enterprise. Integrity’s Cooperative Enforcement technology, which is supported by leading networking and remote access vendors, enables administrators to respond quickly and consistently on an enterprise-wide basis to new vulnerabilities, threats and changing security requirements. In addition, Integrity features streamlined and flexible security administration as well as rapid deployment options, making it a highly secure defense against hackers for enterprise PCs.
