Privacyware Releases ThreatSentryT Small Business Edition – Neural Intrusion Detection and Prevention System for Microsoft IIS

(Red Bank, NJ) – March 9, 2004. Privacyware announced today the immediate availability of ThreatSentry – Small Business Edition, an Intrusion Detection and Prevention Software application that protects Windows 2000/2003 web servers from an array of documented hacking and exploitive techniques including worms, buffer overflows, hybrid attacks and other types of known and unknown security threats to Microsoft Internet Information Services (IIS).

ThreatSentry is an advanced behavioral system that combines machine and mentored learning capabilities, a knowledge-base of documented exploits, and an analytic model specifically designed for IIS, to continuously collect, analyze and organize server events into an evolving baseline of acceptable activity. Each server connection is compared against this baseline to identify and take action against any activity falling outside of trusted parameters.

Implemented as an IIS ISAPI filter and manifested as a snap-in in to the Microsoft Management Console (MMC), ThreatSentry is designed to protect network weak points created by lapses in patch management, configuration errors, and the use of new and progressive attack techniques. ThreatSentry is exceptionally easy to use, protects even un-patched Microsoft web servers and is an ideal complement to network and application firewalls.

ThreatSentry Small Business Edition offers the same features and protection for IIS as the standard version, (which supports centralized network installation and policy management, and other features), but is specifically geared and priced for the small enterprise, business, or personal IIS administrator at just $99 per server. ThreatSentry supports Windows 2000/2003 and the IIS 5.0/6.0 platforms.

“The breadth of the Microsoft web server community is extensive, and since its introduction last summer, ThreatSentry has earned a substantial following among web and security administrators across most of that spectrum,” said Privacyware CEO, Greg Salvato. “In response to the segment of the IIS community challenged with maintaining networks that are perhaps less complex, but by no means less vital than those of large business, we have introduced ThreatSentry Small Business Edition – to ensure that its indispensable threat prevention capabilities are within reach of any budget.”

ThreatSentry can be purchased online at the Company’s website. A 30-day trial version, technical white paper, and case study are also available for download: www.privacyware.com/index_TS.html.
