Hitachi Consulting Implements TippingPoint’s UnityOne Intrusion Prevention System

AUSTIN, Texas ??€” April 14, 2004 ??€” TippingPoint Technologies, Inc. (NASDAQ: TPTI), the leader in intrusion prevention, today announced that Hitachi Consulting, the business and IT consulting arm of Hitachi, Ltd. (NYSE: HIT), deployed the UnityOne??-ž¢ Intrusion Prevention Systems (IPS) to protect its network from worms, viruses, Trojans, Denial of Service attacks, and other cyber threats.

Michael Shisko, director of IT of Hitachi Consulting, will discuss the UnityOne implementation and the selection process for choosing an intrusion prevention system at a seminar hosted by TippingPoint and Vigilar on April 27 in Dallas. Registration begins at 11:30 a.m. at Maggianos Italian Restaurant, located at 6001 W. Park Boulevard in Plano. Seating is limited. To register, go to http://www.vigilar.com/tippingpoint/.

Hitachi Consulting evaluated the three leading intrusion prevention products before selecting UnityOne. According to Shisko, ??€œThe differentiation for TippingPoint was the expertise that came with the IPS, the product’s performance, and the lack of management required for the IPS. Shisko added that TippingPoint was the only product tested that could plug into the network and run without hours of tuning, and the only product with a recommended setting that enabled Hitachi Consulting to be up, running, and blocking malicious traffic within minutes. ??€œUnityOne gives us peace of mind and protection without requiring intervention or management. The UnityOne does its job so we can do ours.

TippingPoint’s UnityOne provides Application Protection, Performance Protection and Infrastructure Protection at gigabit speeds through total packet inspection. Application Protection capabilities provide fast, accurate, reliable protection from internal and external cyber attacks. Through its Infrastructure Protection capabilities, UnityOne protects routers, switches, DNS and other critical infrastructure from targeted attacks and traffic anomalies. UnityOne Performance Protection capabilities enable customers to throttle non-mission critical applications that hijack valuable bandwidth and IT resources, thereby aligning network resources and business-critical application performance.
