Forum Systems Releases Forum XWallT 3.0 For Developers With WS-I Compliance

N+I 2004 – Las Vegas (Booth #521) – May 12, 2004 – Forum Systems, Inc., leading provider of trust management and threat protection Web services security solutions, today announced Version 3.0 of its breakthrough Web Services Firewall. Forum XWallT V3.0 introduces the first implementation of WS-I Basic Profile 1.0 conformance detection and enforcement for both design-time and real-time at the edge of the network. By embedding WS-I conformance into the network instead of the application, Forum centralizes enforcement to ensure consistent interoperability of Web services as they become externally deployed. WS-I Basic Profile conformance is essential for enterprises committed to interoperable Service Oriented Architectures and Web services.

In addition, Forum XWallT V3.0 brings immediate scalability to Web services by permitting multiple services to be allocated and delivered through centralized virtualization technology. Forum’s Web Services Virtualization eliminates the need to distribute multiple WSDL (Web Services Description Language) document versions and instead issue comprehensive and self-secured WSDL instances.

Together, Web Services Virtualization and WS-I Basic Profile 1.0 conformance are critical capabilities for both application developers and network administrators who are committed to ensuring data-level security of Web services and minimizing disruptions due to interoperability errors.

“With the advent of the XML-Internet, the business value of network traffic is now in the data and not the packets. But data-level networking also means exponentially more room for errors that can bring down the network or application, and security solutions will be incomplete without providing for interoperability. Forum XWallT is a true evolution of the firewall, uniquely positioned to enable data-level security and communications into the network layer, and taking the burden off applications for a more scaleable Web services environment,” said Wes Swenson, president and CEO of Forum Systems.

Forum System’s Web services security suite stands apart for its “security first” innovations enabling service-oriented applications using industry standards. Forum Systems also continues to receive widespread adoption across industry sectors including financial services, aerospace, e-retail and government agencies including the Department of Defense.

Forum is proud to be recognized as an industry leader being named 2004 finalist by Network Computing for its prestigious Well-Connected Award, 2004 finalist for Best of Interop award, and best strategy in Forrester’s new report titled “Forrester Wave: XML Security Gateways.”

Forum XWallT V3.0: Scaleable Web Services At the Network Edge Forum XWallT V3.0 adds to its ground breaking features – including XML Intrusion PreventionT with SSL (Secure Sockets Layer) – the following capabilities that address the demands of service-oriented architectures including data-level security, integrity, and availability:

. WS-I Basic Profile 1.0 Conformance Detection and Enforcement for Interoperability: As more partners, customers and business applications exchange data through Web services, they may rely on variations of industry standard specifications, potentially interrupting business transaction flows due to lack of interoperability. By enforcing design-time as well as run-time WS-I Basic Profile 1.0 interoperability checks and balances, Web services interactions can be exchanged without disruptions and according to pre-negotiated compliance policies.

. Web Services Virtualization for Centralized Security Management: Forum System’s cutting-edge Web Services Virtualization allows the combination and orchestration of Web services across multiple servers. Disparate services can be exposed in a single secure and cohesive WSDL interface for centralized security management. The administrator can selectively pick and choose operations from the source WSDL document and using access control rules create entitlements to operations. This includes support for a FIPS secure UDDI WSDL document publish and subscribe.

. Roles-Based Authentication and Access Control for Data-Level Security: The principle model for advanced access control relies on roles and responsibilities for policy management to reduce the cost of security administration in a large networked environment. Forum role-based access control allows a security administrator to segregate and delegate security permissions according to business best practices.

Forum Systems’ suite of Web services security products meet government regulations through integrated information assurance architecture that employs multiple layers of security safeguards. These include deep logging and non-repudiation, policy change controls and auditing, DoD PKI Certification, and FIPS 140-2 Level III hardware security.

Forum XWallT V3.0 is available immediately in three flexible options to fit into any network: software for $2,500, PCI card for $5,000 or hardware appliance for $9,995.
