StreamShield Networks Selects SurfControl’s Web Content Filtering Database
LONDON, September 27, 2004 – StreamShield NetworksTM – the leader in real-time, high performance internet content security solutions – and SurfControl, the world leader in enterprise Web and email filtering, today announce a strategic partnership whereby SurfControl’s extensive Web content filtering database is being incorporated into StreamShield’s unique internet-based content security solutions.
StreamShield enables service providers and network operators to offer their residential and business customers “clean internet services” in which threats are removed in the internet before the content is safely delivered to their subscribers. StreamShield achieves unprecedented levels of performance through a revolutionary new silicon-based content security technology called StreamScanTM which can block multiple threats in real-time at multi-gigabit speeds.
Combined with SurfControl’s industry leading, highly granular Web content filtering database, StreamScan can filter 250,000 web page requests per second based on each subscriber’s individual preferences. As a result, access to websites that fall outside of a business customer’s Acceptable Usage Policy or, in the case of residential customers, websites that are deemed inappropriate to children can be blocked in the internet before they cause harm.
