Trapeze Networks Wins Technology Of The Year Award For Best Wireless LAN Solution

PLEASANTON, Calif. – Jan. 3, 2005 – Trapeze Networksâ„?, today announced that its WLAN Mobility Systemâ„? has been presented with InfoWorld magazine’s Technology of the Year Award, beating out all other WLAN products in its class.

InfoWorld Test Center editors and analysts made their selection based on the stellar performance of Trapeze’s flagship MX-20â„? Mobility Exchangeâ„? switch, which underwent a battery of tests earlier this year at the Advanced Network Computing Laboratory (ANCL) testing facility at the University of Hawaii.

The test suite involved speed benchmarks on the number of authentication cycles the WLAN switches can handle per second; a “loudmouth” test to determine if 802.1X was properly implemented by preventing hackers from seeing broadcast traffic; and a trio of roaming tests between multiple access points using data, video on demand and constant bit-rate voice.

“The team of skeptics that tested these solutions was made up of experienced, real-life network managers and test lab engineers,” said Oliver Rist, senior contributing editor at InfoWorld. “RingMaster is easily the slickest and most flexible WLAN management application we’ve ever encountered. This is an amazing solution and a dream from a management and configuration standpoint.”

“Trapeze’s Mobility System takes the gold for polish, flexibility, granular management, and seamless roaming,” InfoWorld’s Test Center analysts and editors said in a public statement.

“We are very pleased to win this prestigious award from InfoWorld for Technology of the Year,” said Jim Vogt, president and CEO of Trapeze Networks. “This validates the system approach we took with comprehensive network management, high performance switching, and scalable network control all working together to deliver a robust solution for the customer.”
