Trapeze Networks And Enterasys Networks Partner To Deliver Wireless Capabilities With Unmatched Security

PLEASANTON, Calif. – May 9, 2005 – Trapeze Networksâ„?, the award-winning provider of the enterprise wireless LAN (WLAN) Mobility Systemâ„?, today announced a strategic alliance with Enterasys Networks, the Secure Networks Company, to integrate Trapeze technology into newly developed Enterasys products. The result of these joint development efforts will bring enterprise customers an unprecedented level of reliability and security for wireless applications.

This new system leverages Trapeze’s advanced WLAN security and network management capabilities, combining them with Enterasys’ Secure Networks solutions for Acceptable Use Policy and Dynamic Intrusion Response. Acceptable Use Policy automatically defines network-wide policy capabilities based upon the person’s role, allowing access to required resources, while preventing unauthorized behavior. Dynamic Intrusion Response automatically detects and mitigates worms, viruses, and other anomalies that appear on the network. The result is network wide policy-based security – integrated across wireless and wired domains – driven by a centralized management system.

This partnership also affirms the Open Access Point Initiative (OAPI), which enables third-party APs to be supported and managed by Trapeze’s WLAN technology. In this case Trapeze and Enterasys worked together to enable Enterasys APs to leverage the complete feature set of the Mobility System Softwareâ„?, which Enterasys integrated in its WLAN switches.

“Enterasys sees wireless connectivity as a key application for the overall enterprise network, not as a separate network. Organizations demand network-wide security solutions that ensure business continuity and protect vital data from threats and unauthorized access, and that is what we deliver. We chose to work with Trapeze because its innovative wireless capabilities complement our overall Secure Networks solutions that deliver proven security and management capabilities across both wired and wireless networks and provide the complete network-level integration customers require,” said Prabhu Kavi, director of wireless product management for Enterasys.

“This new partnership confirms the strength of Trapeze’s software architecture,” said Ahmet Tuncay, vice president of business development at Trapeze Networks. “We are porting our software to a totally new environment and delivering a completely new kind of system. We can drive customer value by delivering innovation through our partners.”
