VirtualAgility Adds Cyber Security Expert William P. Crowell

(PRWEB) October 26, 2005 — VirtualAgility is pleased to announce the appointment of William P. Crowell to its Board of Advisors. A former Deputy Director of the National Security Agency, Mr. Crowell is a member of the Markle Foundation Task Force on National Security in the Information Age, which published two landmark studies on Homeland Security and information sharing.

Crowell sits on Boards of multiple e-business companies dealing with information security, encryption, networks and data aggregation. On this appointment Stuart Rudolph, President of VirtualAgility, said, “We’re honored to have such a prominent expert lend this extensive government and e-business experience to VirtualAgility’s Board of Advisors.”

Crowell says that VirtualAgility’s WorkCenter product elegantly delivers on his “long-held vision of using information technology to organize resources (people and information resources) for particular needs without physically moving them,” which can essentially create a “virtual organization, on demand.” Crowell concedes that “there’s always going to be a struggle between information sharing and information security, and this role-based, overlay technology nicely balances that. It doesn’t circumvent the security measures already in place.”

Crowell has held a series of senior positions in business and government, including Deputy Director of the National Security Agency. He served as CEO of Cylink Corp., a publicly-held Silicon Valley based security company from 1998 until its acquisition by SafeNet, Inc. in 2003. In 1999 he was appointed to the President’s Export Council (PEC), which advised the administration on trade and export policy, and served as chairman of the PEC Subcommittee on Encryption. He has served the Department of Defense and other government agencies on multiple advisory committees.

A widely recognized expert on network and information security issues, Crowell has appeared on and consults with national and local television programs, and has been quoted in many trade and business publications including the Wall Street Journal, BusinessWeek, Information Week, Network World, Computer World, Federal Computer Week.
