RSA 2007: Vulnerability management support for Shavlik clients running Microsoft Vista
Shavlik Technologies today announced broad vulnerability management and patch management support for Microsoft Vista clients. Organizations that have already started migrating their client PC operating system to Microsoft Vista can use Shavlik’s latest vulnerability management and policy compliance solutions to provide their systems with enhanced security.
Shavlik’s NetChk Protect, the industry standard for patch management, provides for automated assessment and remediation of Vista-based systems. In addition, the upcoming release of Shavlik NetChk Compliance version 2.1 will simplify policy and compliance for Vista users with the inclusion of Vista security baselines to assist in policy creation and configuration management.
Organizations can then use NetChk Compliance to map those policies back to controls in ISO and NIST standards for security system audit purposes.
“While Vista represents Microsoft’s most secure operating system to date, Microsoft will still release patches to its customers to address security vulnerabilities,” said Mark Shavlik, CEO of Shavlik Technologies. “Customers will need a robust and automated method of distributing those patches. Shavlik’s solutions provide automated assessment and remediation support for the 15 Vista patches already released by Microsoft since the release of Vista. We will continue to support our Vista and Windows customers throughout their migration.”
