Multi-service VDSL2, 802.11n wireless gateway from ZyXEL
ZyXEL announced the P870HN, a VDSL2 gateway with embedded 802.11n wireless technology.
VDSL2 has gained popularity in the United States due to the increasing number of fiber deployments, including Fiber to the Node (FTTN), Fiber to the Curb (FTTC) and some Fiber to the Building (FTTB). Operators use 100Mbps VDSL2 connections over copper from the end of the fiber line into subscriber homes clearing the way for premium services like IPTV and HDTV.
In addition, the P870HN can automatically switch between high-speed VDSL over PTM and legacy ADSL2+ over ATM, allowing operators to use the one device for subscribers both inside and outside the VDSL2 loop. This and the gateway’s built-in TR069 technology for remote management make it a cost saver for operators trying to minimize deployment and maintenance expenses.
Home networking has become crucial for families. With 802.11n wireless, 4-port switch and firewall built into the P870HN, telcos can offer subscribers a one-box solution to broadband access and home networking thus tapping into this revenue pool. This eliminates the need for subscribers to install off the shelf networking equipment that telcos end up supporting without the help of remote management capabilities.
P870HN benefits at a glance:
- Universal VDSL2/ADSL2+ functionality
- 802.11n technology for performance and coverage
- Advanced quality of service (QoS) support
- TR-069 remote management.
