Covata announces general availability of SafeShare for ITAR
Covata announced the general availability of SafeShare for the US International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).
This SaaS offering will serve a role in allowing small and medium-sized businesses in the Defense Industrial Base sector to adopt the cloud while complying with export control laws, such as ITAR and the Export Administration Regulations (EAR).
ITAR and EAR are two regimes that control the export of defense articles including technical data, defense services, and dual-use articles and technology.
Covata’s SafeShare for ITAR is a secure enterprise file synchronization and sharing solution that is deployed in Amazon Web Services (AWS) GovCloud, and allows businesses to store, share, and collaborate with information related to defense articles and dual use technologies.
The solution employs end-to-end encryption (as defined in the EAR), multi-factor authentication, and access controls to authenticate and authorize access to sensitive information.
Further, the activity logging feature of SafeShare for ITAR automates records keeping required to track exports of regulated information.
Businesses with less than 500 employees that design, manufacture, distribute, or sell export-controlled products, technologies, and services have not been able to move to the cloud and maintain ITAR and EAR compliance in a cost-effective way.
SafeShare for ITAR allows businesses to achieve the productivity and cost efficiencies of the cloud while complying with these regulations.
The security capabilities of this solution provide the controls businesses need to manage the technical data while providing employees the user experience to which they are accustomed.
