Secure Code Warrior to lead Secure Coding Champion Learning Lab at RSA Conference 2019

Secure Code Warrior (SCW) unveiled that co-founder and CEO Pieter Danhieux and co-founder and CTO Matias Madou have been selected by conference organizers to lead an “Are You a Secure Coding Champion” Learning Lab at the upcoming RSA Conference 2019, taking place March 4-8 in San Francisco.

They will also be attending as part of the Australian Cyber Security Mission to the USA 2019, a group of companies selected by the Australian Trade and Investment Commission to showcase the cybersecurity and tech talent from the region.

The RSA Conference Learning Labs are designed to offer full conference pass attendees facilitated experiences to immerse attendees in interactive exercises and discussions. Attendance to each of the 20 labs being offered at this year’s conference is limited, ensuring that every participant has the opportunity to engage with the facilitator and learn the skill being taught.

Unlike traditional track sessions being offered at the conference, Danhieux and Madou will serve as Lab facilitators or “guides on the side,” leading participants through the content and exercises, while challenging them to apply what they are learning and engage with one another.

“With the right skills, tools, and support, developers can be the first line of defense in their organization,” said Danhieux. “They have the power to drive and maintain a positive security culture, keep best practices highly visible and write secure code from the beginning. It’s time to upskill developers and help them make an impact as a security-first developer.”

The Are You a Secure Coding Champion Learning Lab will offer a training environment where attendees will compete against each other to become the “Secure Code Warrior.” Participants can first select from various software languages, in order to complete challenges in languages and frameworks that are most relevant to them.

Gamification elements such as published leaderboards and configurable point systems will help to make the exercise a fun, engaging and interactive experience.
