ISACA appoints Julia Kanouse as senior vice president of membership

Bringing a rich tech background and executive experience in the association sector, Julia Kanouse has joined ISACA’s leadership team as senior vice president of membership.

ISACA has more than 145,000 members in 188 countries working in information and cyber security, governance, audit and assurance, risk and privacy, and in Kanouse’s new role, she will lead the strategy to elevate their experiences through diverse membership and chapter initiatives.

In doing so, she will oversee a dynamic slate of global conferences, including 2020 CACS conferences in North America, Latin America, Oceania, Asia Pacific, Africa and Europe, GRC Conference 2020, and Capability Counts 2020.

“I’m thrilled to be joining the team at ISACA and am excited to be working with our chapter leaders throughout the world to enhance our member value proposition and increase engagement in ISACA’s products and services,” says Kanouse.

“With an increased emphasis on security, data privacy and governance by consumers and regulators alike, the timing has never been better for ISACA to grow its presence and prominence with organizations of all stages and sizes.”

Kanouse most recently was the CEO for the Illinois Technology Association, which serves the local tech community in Illinois. Before that, she held several executive roles in membership and marketing at the National Restaurant Association.

“Our members, chapter leaders and volunteers are why we exist and why ISACA has been able to do the amazing things we have accomplished over our first 50 years,” says David Samuelson, ISACA CEO. “I know that Julia shares this view and will help lead an amazing team that will be committed to bringing renewed value, trust and relevance to our members.”

Kanouse’s appointment comes as ISACA has been reinvigorating its structure and senior management team, including adding the organization’s first chief learning officer and chief technology officer roles in 2019 shortly after Samuelson came aboard as CEO.
