Island appoints Jennifer Park as CPO

Island announced the appointment of Jennifer Park as its first Chief People Officer (CPO). Park joins Island’s senior leadership team with over 20 years’ experience fostering rich, innovative and diverse work environments.

Her appointment reflects Island’s commitment to creating a culture that fully empowers its employees and attracts top-level global talent.

With a proven track record at leading companies like Google, American Express and, most recently, D2iQ, Park joins Island to architect an authentic company culture built on mutual trust, inclusion and shared purpose. As CPO, Park will also manage Island’s talent recruitment and development efforts. An integral element of Park’s approach is building a unique partnership with Dr. Julia Shumelda, an executive consultant with a background in applied neuroscience, who will work with the team on building cultural and leadership excellence.

“I am thrilled to join Island’s visionary leadership team at such a pivotal point in the company’s growth journey,” said Park. “Island is home to over 100 employees representing the industry’s best and brightest. I’m eager to build upon this momentum, as we continue to create an exceptional work environment that can take the company to new heights.”

“As we built Island, we knew this role would require a dynamic individual who had the vision to grow our team while shaping who we are as a company,” said Mike Fey, co-founder, CEO, Island. “Jennifer’s rich experience at Google, American Express and D2iQ and her proven ability to harness and empower talent made her a perfect fit for Island. We are honored to welcome Jen to the company and look forward to her many future contributions.”

“Having an experienced advisor like Julia who is entirely focused on creating an extraordinary culture and a high-performance leadership team is really rare, particularly at this stage of our evolution,” Park added. “It speaks volumes about the commitment to excellence that exists at every level at Island.”

With almost 25 years of experience supporting leaders of the world’s most successful organizations such as CrowdStrike, Facebook, the NBA and more, Dr. Shumelda specializes in cultivating values-based leadership and strong company culture. She will support Park’s continued mission to inject Island’s core values into all areas of the organization.

“A company’s culture is its operating system in start-ups and large enterprises alike,” said Dr. Shumelda. “In my experience working with start-ups, what’s most unique is the opportunity to intentionally architect the culture. To build a thriving culture based on trust and transparency, which ultimately unlocks the freedom to innovate. I’m excited to work with Jennifer, Mike and the whole Island team to help foster a work culture that elevates everyone and everything they do.”

In February 2022, Island emerged from stealth and introduced the world to the Enterprise Browser, eliminating the massive gaps between current consumer-focused browsers and the increasingly complex IT and security requirements of enterprises worldwide. The company secured over $200 million in Series A and B financing to support the company’s continued growth.
