Rainbow’s iKey Earns OPSEC Certification from Check Point Software Technologies

iKey 1000 Authentication Token Demonstrates Multi-Vendor Interoperability for Best-of-Breed Security Infrastructure Solutions

IRVINE, Calif., March 06, 2001 – The Digital Rights Management (DRM) group of Rainbow Technologies( (Nasdaq: RNBO), a leading provider of security solutions for the Internet and eCommerce, today announced that its iKey 1000 workstation and network security authentication token has been certified by Check Point Software Technologies( (Nasdaq: CHKP) Open Platform for Security (OPSEC) Alliance. OPSEC certification proves that Rainbow’s iKey VPN Solution Series is interoperable with Check Point’s industry-leading VPN-1(tm) solution, an integral part of its Secure Virtual Network (SVN) architecture.

With OPSEC certification, Rainbow has integrated the iKey 1000 VPN Solution Series into the Check Point VPN-1 software to provide an easy-to-use, two-factor logon authentication when connecting from a remote location.

“OPSEC certification is another step toward broad adoption of Rainbow’s iKey security tokens as a means of providing powerful two-factor authentication in an organization’s security infrastructure,” said Robert Shields, senior director of strategic marketing, Rainbow Technologies’ DRM group. “We look forward to working closely with Check Point to demonstrate our commitment towards iKey’s interoperability and security for complete workstation and network protection.”

“Trusted two-factor authentication is a key component of our SVN architecture,” said Bradley Brown, director of business development for Check Point Software Technologies. “The integration of Rainbow’s iKey with Check Point’s VPN-1 offers users a comprehensive and trusted authentication solution for workstation and network security. We are pleased to award OPSEC certification to Rainbow’s iKey product family.”

The Integration of iKey and Check Point

The iKey 1000 VPN Solution Series CP is integrated into the Check Point VPN-1 software to provide an easy-to-use logon authentication when connecting from a remote location. This solution provides a USB-based password-replacement system with powerful two-factor authentication for workstation and network security.

The iKey VPN Solution Series fully interoperates with Check Point VPN-1 via the Secure Authentication API (SAA). Users connect the VPN via their iKey, integrated with the Check Point client software. The iKey interacts with the VPN-1 software, which then communicates through the firewall and authorizes users by verifying the correct PIN. Once users connect their iKey to their computer and enter their PIN, they are authenticated by the VPN-1 server, granting them access to the network while providing a secure method of remotely connecting and accessing sensitive data and applications. In large-scale deployments, the iKey VPN Solution Series can be phased in gradually, with no system downtime.
