Sentinel SuperProNet and Sentinel SuperPro 6.1 Provide Versatile Memory Utilization

Doubles the Number of Applications Protected by a Single Security Key

IRVINE, Calif., February 5, 2001 – The Digital Rights Management group of Rainbow Technologies, Inc. (Nasdaq: RNBO) a leading provider of high-performance security solutions for the Internet, eCommerce and software protection, today announced the availability of Sentinel SuperProNet and Sentinel SuperPro 6.1. These products represent the industry’s most powerful and flexible solution for securing corporate critical applications in networked environments. Rainbow’s Digital Rights Management group markets the industry’s leading software security, electronic software licensing and management, and digital rights management solution, with more keys sold to more customers than any other competitive solution.

The Sentinel SuperProNet and SuperPro 6.1 software are the industry’s most comprehensive, full-featured, easy-to-use software protection solution that allows IT professionals to increase software demonstration limits and permit demos to be upgraded to fully licensed versions of the application without having to ship a new security key or visit the end-user site. SuperProNet and SuperPro 6.1 can secure as many as 28 applications in a single security key. Additionally, IT professionals can use one key to provide security for multiple clients.

“SuperProNet is the ideal solution for customers needing a client/server networking solution that protects applications from unauthorized usage,” said Robert Shields, director of strategic marketing, Rainbow Technologies. “The SuperProNet security key, combined with SuperPro 6.1 software, is engineered to provide a longer end-user life cycle with ease-of-use features for securing more applications than the average network user typically has loaded on their system.”

Ideally suited for client/server networks, Sentinel SuperProNet secures software applications from unauthorized execution and protects those applications from illegal licensing and distribution. The security key connects to the network via a parallel or USB port on a network server that provides concurrent use of a protected application by multiple clients. Combined with Sentinel SuperPro 6.1, Sentinel SuperProNet’s network-licensing capabilities are enhanced through a server-monitoring tool that lets system administrators track license usage on the network. The one-time update option for license codes prevents license codes from being applied more than once during a field exchange. In addition, the combination of SuperProNet and SuperPro 6.1 allows developers and software publishers to program keys specifically for use by distributors to provide a measure of control over the number of end-user keys each distributor can activate and update. This features gives software developers sublicensing functionality to override preprogrammed license limits.
