Protegrity Data-Privacy Solution First to Receive Check Point OPSEC Certification for UserAuthority Interface

Combination of Leading Security Solutions Extend Enterprise Security To the Application Layer

STAMFORD, CONN., May 23, 2001—Protegrity, Inc., the leading provider of solutions that protect franchise dataâ„?, today announced that its Secure.Dataâ„? data-privacy solution has been certified by Check Pointâ„? Software Technologies (Nasdaq: CHKP) Open Platform for Security (OPSEC) Alliance for interoperability with Check Point’s industry-leading Secure Virtual Network (SVN) architecture. Protegrity’s Secure.Data, the only privacy-management system for the protection of sensitive data within corporate databases, is the first product to earn OPSECâ„? certification using Check Point’s UserAuthorityâ„? interface. Customers can now extend Check Point strong VPN-1â„?/FireWall-1® security to the Secure.Data encryption and access control process to protect confidential database information.

“We are delighted to have received OPSEC certification for Secure.Data,” said Bertil Tiusanen, president and CEO of Protegrity. “OPSEC certification confirms Secure.Data’s ability to work seamlessly with Check Point’s industry-leading VPN/security framework, giving customers a powerful and easily implemented solution that bridges the gap between network, application and database security.” The combined solution effectively gives an organization the power to provide enterprise security from the network environment up to the application level.

By combining Check Point’s UserAuthority interface, which provides access to VPN-1/FireWall security context information, with Protegrity’s unique cryptographic data-security and access control mechanism, customers now have a manageable and reliable extension of existing security infrastructure into enterprise databases.

“We are pleased to announce Protegrity as the first vendor to gain OPSEC certification with our UserAuthority interface,” said Asheem Chandna, vice president of business development and product management for Check Point Software Technologies. “Protegrity’s Secure.Data database privacy system tightly integrated with Check Point’s SVN architecture enables integrated eBusiness security.”

The unique combination of Check Point and Protegrity security solutions provides a “chain-of-trust” for sensitive data from Web and end-user environments to the corporate database. This support provides one-of-a-kind solutions for achieving compliance with information-privacy measures such as the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act, HIPAA, OCC and other privacy legislation. Protegrity’s Secure.Data database-privacy system actively protects confidential information within corporate databases at the data level. Secure.Data automates business-set encryption procedures for sensitive data in selected columns of databases to protect valuable information from misuse, theft or destruction. Secure.Data also provides a unique form of access control that allows users to work with protected data according to the user’s needs and roles within an organization. The Protegrity solution operates in distributed environments and across the leading platforms and relational databases, including Web- and Internet-enabled database applications. Protegrity’s first product version to receive OPSEC certification is Secure.Data for Oracle running on the Microsoft Windowsâ„? NT operating system. Certifications for additional databases and operating systems are planned for the upcoming months.
