Evidian’s AccessMaster and PortalXpert, cross platform security management software suites

Evidian, the leading supplier of secure e-infrastructure management software; and Novell, the leading provider of Net services software; today announced that interoperability has been achieved among Novell’s eDirectoryTM and Evidian’s security products, PortalXpertTM and AccessMasterTM. Through this agreement, which broadens the companies’ existing partnership, Evidian joins Novell’s growing list of security partners and Novell becomes an Associate Partner of Evidian.

Evidian’s enterprise security and management software suites, AccessMaster and OpenMaster, already support Novell NetWare® 6.x operating system environments. With today’s announcement, Evidian and Novell extend this successful collaboration to include interoperability of eDirectory with PortalXpert and AccessMaster.

Evidian and Novell have tested and approved the interoperability between AccessMaster and Novell eDirectory. Based on this cross certification, Novell becomes a certified partner of Evidian and Evidian connects its AccessMaster security products with Novell eDirectory. AccessMaster NetWall firewall is now interoperable with Novell eDirectory. AccessMaster SSO and PortalXpert for Novell eDirectory will be available soon.

Evidian has committed itself to comply with open standards and to support market-leading technologies. Illustrating this strategy, AccessMaster allows successful deployment of trusted e-business strategies based on any enterprise web and client/server application, with 100% standard solutions. AccessMaster supports LDAP directories as the preferred distributed repository in e-business environments, and will connect to all market-leading directories that are LDAP compliant.

With nearly 139 million users worldwide, Novell’s eDirectory is the industry’s most deployed directory service. It has strong performance and capacity advantages and is the only directory service that supports the many different operating systems that exist today, including NetWare, Windows, NT/2000, Solaris, Linux, Tru64 Unix and, planned by year’s end, AIX.

AccessMaster can support the same platforms and operating systems as the Novell eDirectory, and uses the information stored by an LDAP directory to provide security administrators with the means to strengthen the enterprise business security policy.

Evidian’s AccessMaster software suite addresses the full range of enterprise security requirements, including single sign-on (SSO), user administration, security policy management, PKI management and firewall protection. Evidian’s PortalXpert software addresses the web access control needs of B2B sites, bricks-to-clicks companies and e-marketplaces. It uses a centralized LDAP directory to allow access to be defined, enabled, controlled and managed from a single point. The two products can be integrated to deliver a consistent SSO capability across legacy and web-enabled environments.

“Novell has proven its status as an industry leader by providing the only LDAP directory that works on all major operating systems and networks”, said Philippe Pradat, Evidian’s VP of product engineering and marketing. ” Evidian’s products, when combined with the strong features inherent in Novell eDirectory, enable security administrators to manage all sensitive information in a central repository with full coherence between LDAP directories and traditional environments. This centralized administration makes it possible to enforce security policies consistently throughout the enterprise, and has a measurable, positive impact on costs and productivity”.

“The top concern for e-businesses is to provide secure access to networked data and information across the Net.,” said Christophe Pouillet, Novell France’s Services and Solutions Development Manager, “Companies are constantly dealing with threats of malicious action that can exploit their network vulnerabilities. Novell eDirectory, combined with Evidian’s products, gives customers the ability to tailor the security solution to their particular needs. Now organizations can benefit from Novell’s eDirectory and Evidian’s scalable, ready-to-use security management control solutions, which can handle and store security profiles to define a consistent, company-wide security policy that best addresses their requirements.”
