Former Hewlett-Packard Exec Takes CEO Post at PoliVec, Inc.
Roberto Medrano to Head Policy-Driven Security Management Software Firm
Palo Alto, CA- January 23, 2002 – PoliVec, Inc., formerly e-business technology, Inc., announced today the appointment of Roberto Medrano as its Chief Executive Officer. Mr. Medrano comes to PoliVec after a highly successful three-and-a-half year tenure at Hewlett-Packard where he was General Manager of the E-Services and Internet Security Divisions. As Division general manager for Hewlett-Packard (HP), Medrano served a vital role as head of HP’s key strategic emerging businesses. While at HP, Medrano led a number of initiatives focused on developing new products and solutions designed to facilitate all aspects of electronic commerce. Some of these efforts included Internet security, middleware, management, web services, CRM, and E-commerce.
Under his leadership at HP, Mr. Medrano grew several teams from zero to more than $30 million in revenue in a very short time, with a combined total close to $200 Million in revenue for the various teams under his management.
A recognized international expert in Internet security, Mr. Medrano was selected as a participant in President Clinton’s White House meeting on cyber security, which brought together influential technology industry leaders, senior administration, and Cabinet officials. Since his White House visit, Medrano has participated in follow-up Cyber Summits. He also addressed the Department of Defense’s Internet Security meetings, and he is a frequent speaker at security conferences.
Mr. Medrano has been selected as one of “The 100 most influential Hispanics in 2001,” and he is a founder and the first Vice-President for Hispanic-net,

Mr. Medrano has extensive experience with start-ups as well as large companies. As a part of his start-up experience, Mr. Medrano raised funding through an IPO and third round financing for two companies: Milkyway Networks, a firewall vendor, and Finjan, Inc.
