Inter.net Deploys Anti-Spam and Anti-Virus Security Protection in U.S.

Inter.net Global, a US-based international consumer Internet Service Provider, today announced the deployment of a real-time anti-virus and anti-spam filtering solution, Inter.net VirusDefender(TM) and SpamGuardian(TM), as part of its basic monthly subscription service.

U.S. customers will be the first to benefit from the service followed shortly by customers in the 15 other countries Inter.net serves.

Transparent to the user, VirusDefender(TM) will detect and eliminate email-borne viruses and threats before they reach customer mailboxes. All email attachments that can contain viruses are scanned, as are different encoding schemes (UUENCODE, Binhex, and Mime).

SpamGuardian(TM) will scan the header and body of suspect email messages before they reach customer mailboxes. This feature stores this mail in a “caught spam” area for the user to review, in effect sidelining suspected mail for 14 days for examination, rather than deleting it.

According to a Brightmail spokesperson, Inter.net is the largest ISP to offer their anti-virus and anti-spam protection at no additional charge to its customers.
