McAfee.com SpamKiller Now Supports MSN Hotmail

Company’s Anti-Spam Utility Also Features Enhanced Address Book Support, Silent Filter Updates and a Redesigned User Interface

SUNNYVALE, Calif., Sept. 4 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ — McAfee.com (Nasdaq: MCAF), a leading provider of Web security services, today announced the availability of McAfee.com SpamKiller for MSN Hotmail. Now over 110 million MSN Hotmail users will have access to a powerful desktop-level solution that will monitor, filter and quarantine unsolicited email messages (“spam”) from their inboxes. In addition, the company has added several new enhancements to SpamKiller, including silent filter updates and a newly redesigned user interface, further improving the product’s ease-of-use.

“The number one request from our SpamKiller customers has been the addition of SpamKiller support for Web-based email accounts such as Hotmail,” said Atri Chatterjee, vice president, worldwide marketing, McAfee.com. “Hotmail users will quickly see the value of SpamKiller as a powerful and user-friendly tool to help keep their inboxes free of spam email.”

McAfee.com SpamKiller connects directly to a user’s MSN Hotmail account and scans all incoming messages for spam with advanced filtering protocols. Once detected, the spam is automatically removed from the user’s inbox and sent to a quarantined folder for future reference if necessary. Since SpamKiller works in conjunction with the MSN Hotmail service, users can benefit from its advanced filtering without being forced to change how they access and read their email.

In order to further prevent false positives and filtering of legitimate email, McAfee.com SpamKiller now has the ability to import a user’s Hotmail contact list into the application’s “white list” of trusted email senders. In addition, SpamKiller features improved Outlook Address Book support which allows users to import SMTP addresses from a wider variety of Outlook sources including contact lists, personal address books, and global address lists.

McAfee.com SpamKiller also features new silent filter updates that allow users to receive weekly, automated updates providing them with the most up-to-date protection against the latest spam threats. SpamKiller’s new XP-style interface allows for easier application navigation and usability.
