Diversinet Supplies SecureNet with Technology for Unique Trust Service Offering in Asia-Pacific

Trust Services to Enable Secure Wired and Wireless Messaging, Banking, Payments and Gaming in Australia, New Zealand and China

Sydney, Australia and Toronto, CANADA – October 15, 2002 – e-security provider SecureNet (ASX: SNX) and security infrastructure company Diversinet (Nasdaq SmallCap: DVNT) today announced a US$200,000 agreement to deliver Trust Services to the Australian, New Zealand, and Chinese markets.

Under the terms of the agreement, Diversinet will license SecureNet its Passport security product suite in order to establish wireless Trust Services for secure consumer and enterprise applications in Asia-Pacific. The managed Trust Services will provide enterprises secure digital identity, authentication, authorisation, and transaction access over wireless internet applications such as payments, secure messaging, banking, and gaming.

“Through this agreement, SecureNet is establishing a unique business that will offer one-stop security services – wired or wireless – to support mass scale deployment of e-commerce applications,” said Nagy Moustafa, President and CEO, Diversinet Corp. “This agreement is significant to Diversinet as it expands our presence into the Australian market and provides us with a new channel to market our products.”

“Diversinet is a leader in developing and marketing wireless security solutions. This complements SecureNet’s existing focus of providing whole of enterprise solutions and services to organisations as they take their businesses to the next stage of e-business,” said Geoffrey Ross, Managing Director, SecureNet Limited. “The establishment of Trust Services using Diversinet and SecureNet’s products will provide both companies the opportunity to showcase their best-of-breed solutions in Australia, New Zealand and China.”

Australian B2B e-commerce transactions were valued at AU$11.83 billion in 2001. This number is expected to grow 70 percent annually over the next five years increasing to about AU$166.25 billion by 2006, according to an IDC report – Australia B2B eCommerce Forecast, 2001-2006. Despite the continued growth in e-commerce, security is considered a major barrier; businesses want to ensure the verification of identities and non-repudiation of agreements over wired and wireless channels.
