Websense Enterprise for Small and Medium Businesses Offers Easy, Stand-Alone Deployment

London – April 23, 2003 – Bringing the benefits of enterprise-class employee Internet managing (EIM) solutions to smaller companies, Websense Inc. (NASDAQ: WBSN) announced today the launch of Websense Enterprise for Small and Medium Businesses (SMB). Targeted at organisations with 1,000 or fewer employees, Websense Enterprise for SMBTM provides all of the benefits of the recently-released Websense Enterprise v5 within a single server environment. Enabling small or medium-sized companies that may not have a firewall, cache, or proxy device to deploy the software within their computing environments.
Websense v5 remains the only employee Internet management (EIM) solution to provide management at a server, network and desktop level – ensuring companies can protect themselves against emerging Internet-related threats such as hacking software, peer-to-peer file sharing, Instant Messaging (IM) and web-based storage.

“All e-enabled companies, no matter what the size, are under the same pressure to address growing security, legal and productivity issues,” commented Geoff Haggart, vice president of EMEA for Websense. “By providing all the advanced EIM features of v5 within a stand-alone product, we can now ensure that regardless of a company’s network environment it can still effectively manage the interaction between the employee and his or her computing resources.”

With more than half of all Internet-enabled employees worldwide working in organisations of 1,000 or fewer employees, the launch of Websense Enterprise for SMBTM also provides Websense value-added resellers with the opportunity to provide a much-needed solution to a growing market sector.

“Websense Enterprise is unique in the marketplace as it allows companies of all sizes to manage their employees’ use of the Internet at the server, network and client levels,” commented Catherine Lowe, Business Development Manager of Managed & Internet Security Solutions for Ultima Business Solutions, a Reading-based Websense Premium Partner. “I know our customers are going to be particularly interested in hearing about how v5 will enable control of instant messaging, peer-to-peer file sharing and streaming media.”

Websense Enterprise v5 for SMB will be available for a 30-day free evaluation download on May 1 at http://www.websense.com/downloads. The new Websense Enterprise for SMB product will be sold according to the same terms and conditions as the Websense Enterprise flagship software. One-, two- or three-year subscriptions are available and Premium Groups I, II and II, Bandwidth Optimizer and Client Application Manager (CAM) will be sold at an additional cost. In addition to the security and legal liability protection Websense Enterprise for SMB offers a company, the return on investment is typically measured in weeks due to increased employee productivity and savings on information technology resources.
