Juniper Networks Delivers New Levels Of Network Security Integration And Scalability

J-Protect Advances Protection for the Network, the User and Security Investments

LONDON, May 30, 2003 – Juniper Networks, Inc. (Nasdaq: JNPR) today announced J-Protect, a comprehensive solution that advances network security. Available now across the E-, M- and T-series platforms, this highly scalable solution ensures protection of the network, the user experience, and security investments through an unprecedented level of integration and scalability.

“Protecting our users’ experiences is a primary concern at Telecom New Zealand. Juniper Networks has helped us fulfill this objective at key locations, through the integration and scalability of its J-Protect solution,” commented Murray Milner, Chief Technology Officer Telecom New Zealand.

J-Protect supports multiple security functions at scale and without compromising performance. New capabilities within the J-Protect security solution include:

– Adaptive Services Physical Interface Card (PIC) and enhanced Tunnel Services Module bring integrated, high-performance Network Address Translation (NAT) and Stateful Firewalling to the portfolio
– Monitoring PIC (M-PIC) delivers integrated high-performance Flow Monitoring to the portfolio
– Port Mirroring in the E-series simplifies traffic monitoring and analysis
– New J-Protect Professional Services facilitate and enhance security best practices.

Data from CAIDA and CERT show not only that security incidents have grown in frequency and sophistication, but also that the network itself has become a potential target, or multiplier, of attacks. These developments place greater responsibility on network operators and suppliers of network equipment. With J-Protect, Juniper Networks is addressing these industry responsibilities by enabling network operators to:

” Protect the user experience: By protecting data flows and enabling rich customisation to address the diverse security needs of users.
” Protect the network: Leveraging its robust design, Juniper Network delivers high performance protection across all devices and across the control plane.
” Protect investments in security: By integrating a rich set of scalable, high performance tools, J-Protect reduces capital and operational burdens by minimizing the need for separate security devices.

“Managed security services have clearly become an integral part of a service provider’s portfolio. The success of these services depends heavily on the provider’s ability to protect not only the user, but also their own network assets. We believe that Juniper Networks J-Protect solution delivers the integration and scale required to address this multi-faceted requirement,” commented, Jeff Wilson, Executive Director, Infonetics Research.
