Equant Selects Ubizen As Global Managed Security Partner
Equant to Provide Ubizen Managed Intrusion Detection Services, which Helps Corporations Detect and Respond to Unwanted Network Intrusions-
Ubizen, the principal provider of Managed Security Solutions (MSS) for global businesses, has announced that Equant, a recognised industry leader in data and IP services for multinational businesses, has partnered with Ubizen to expand the security services portfolio it provides to multinational corporations.
Under the agreement, Ubizen provides security event monitoring from its state-of-the-art Security Operations Centers, enabling the customer to capture and react to intrusions by external hackers and those from inside corporate networks. Equant Intrusion Detection service detects in near real-time, malicious activity that is targeted at customer networks, devices, appliances, servers and operating systems. In addition, it filters false alarms that could divert valuable corporate resources.
Businesses are choosing to outsource the management, monitoring and support of their IDS, in part because most companies do not have a staff of security professionals in-house to analyse and respond to the logs generated by the intrusion detection devices and because of the large number of false positives generated. “It is critical to distinguish the signal from the noise – companies must be able to prioritize the important logs from the less critical logs,” explains Terrie Anderson, Ubizen Executive Vice President Global Sales. “When IDS generates a vast number of logs, usually due to poor configuration, a lot of companies do not follow-up on the events. This management strategy is like installing a burglar alarm on your home, but not having the alarm connected to a security company or the police department. Equant’s decision to partner with Ubizen demonstrates Equant’s commitment to providing its multinational customers the best security tools and services available.”
Ubizen has invested in its own MSS technology, branded SEAM (state & event analysis machine), which automates the analysis of all IDS. SEAM quickly correlates, aggregates and analyses millions of security events and rapidly responds to only the ‘real’ security incidents.
Equant’s Intrusion Detection customers will also benefit from Ubizen’s security dashboard technology, which delivers a customised view of all the security devices on their network and provides an efficient way to monitor the security posture across the company. All information related to the events (e.g. actual data, its classification, etc.), as well as all information related to the probes themselves (e.g. signature updates, change requests) is consolidated in a single portal, called the Equant Intrusion Detection Report Center.
The implementation of the collaborative managed intrusion detection service will result in customer benefits, including:
– Significantly improved security posture
– Operational efficiencies
– Quantifiable ROI
