Neoteris Opens Local Operations In Japan To Support Growing Demand For Simple, Secure Access

TOKYO – Sept. 30, 2003 – Neoteris*, Inc., the leading Application Security Gateway vendor with more than 550 enterprise customers and one million users worldwide, today announced the opening of its local office in Tokyo, Japan. The opening of the office enables Neoteris to locally meet the demands of its rapidly expanding customer base, including the latest customer Furukawa Electric Co., Ltd., one of the world’s leading manufacturers of electric wire and cable-related products. Under the leadership of Tsugio Yoshida, country manager for Neoteris Japan, the local team will oversee business development, channel management, sales and account management, and technical and marketing support.

“When the Neoteris Access Series security products were first presented to us, we immediately saw the value proposition, and have been pleased with our roll out thus far,” said Masaki Oda, general manager of the Information Systems Division at Furukawa Electric. “The SSL VPN appliances have lowered our cost of providing access to intranet applications. With their new local presence, our expectations for superior pre-sales, technical, and post-sales support from Neoteris are now even higher. Neoteris is not only serious about our relationship, but is also very serious about the Japanese market. We congratulate them on their newly established office and their growing team.”

To help further meet growing demand for the Neoteris Access Series* and Meeting Series* appliances, Neoteris has established relationships with partners throughout Japan, including Fujitsu & Fujitsu SSL, Kyocera Communications, Macnica, NEC, Nissay Information Technology, NTT Communications and Takachiho Koheki.

“Neoteris has established itself as the SSL VPN leader, and we are pleased to provide these pioneering products to our growing customer base who need cost-effective secure access,” said Kiyoshi Saito, president of Fujitsu SSL, a wholly owned subsidiary of Fujitsu Ltd. providing information systems solutions for telecommunications and network infrastructure. “Because there is no client software to install and the appliances leverage SSL for secure, controlled access to resources via any Web browser, we are already seeing demand for the Access Series product family. We are pleased to work with Neoteris’ team to deliver SSL-based secure access to new markets and enterprises in Japan.”

“Our customers have come to expect that we provide the highest-quality networking products and services with our Single Sign-On solution, and the Neoteris products follow suit,” said Katsuji Ikoma, senior project manager at Nissay Information Technology, a wholly owned subsidiary of Nissay providing IT equipment and services. “The Neoteris Access Series product family offers the best enterprise-class secure access appliances in the market today. By reselling Neoteris’ SSL-based appliances, we will be able to meet our enterprise customers’strategic need for instant secure remote access to network resources for our Single Sign-On solution. Our relationship with Neoteris offers great value for us and our customers.”

Neoteris’ products reduce the cost, complexity and security risks associated with traditional access technologies, such as virtual private networks (VPNs) and custom extranets. The Neoteris Instant Virtual Extranet (IVE) products require neither client-side software deployments nor changes to existing LAN infrastructure, greatly reducing deployment time to a matter of hours. The products have received significant validation, evidenced through rapid customer and partner acquisition, numerous industry awards, analyst endorsements, and third-party security validations. Gaining industry and customer acclaim, the Neoteris IVE products are quickly becoming the standard for provisioning cost-effective secure access.

“Since introducing our Instant Virtual Extranet products in Japan in April 2003, the demand for our products has significantly grown,” said Krishna “Kittu” Kolluri, president and CEO of Neoteris. “With the opening of our new office and support from our expanding reseller partnerships, more enterprises in Japan can now take advantage of the industry’s most comprehensive and robust SSL-based secure access appliances for accessing company information, while reducing system complexity for users and IT staffs. We are proud of our continued global expansion, our new Japanese partner relationships, and are pleased to have Yoshida aboard to further extend our leadership to Japan.”

Numerous independent authorities have recognized Neoteris’ SSL VPN category leadership. The products have also won numerous awards as an innovative and compelling access solution, helping enterprises and schools increase efficiency and productivity.
