TManage Announces SSL-enabled Managed Clientless VPN Service for Remote Network Access at Gartner Symposium/ITxpo 2003

Gartner Symposium/ITxpo, Orlando, FL., October 21, 2003 – TManage, a MegaPath Networks company and a leading provider of comprehensive managed networking solutions, today announced the addition of an SSL-enabled managed clientless VPN service for remote network access. As part of a comprehensive managed solution which complements TManage’s existing IPSec-based Managed Remote Access VPN offering, distributed enterprises can now implement the SSL VPN service to easily and securely connect mobile workforces and business partners to Web-enabled applications.

The new TManage VPN solution is enabled by the Instant Virtual Extranet (IVE) platform from Neoteris , Inc. , giving distributed enterprises secure remote access to corporate network resources via the Internet from any computer that has an SSL-enabled Web browser. TManage’s SSL VPN service will provide mobile workers secure and ubiquitous corporate information resource access while reducing IPSec VPN client support costs and enforcing application-level access control.

“Increasingly enterprises are realizing that they need both IPSec and SSL VPNs to completely fulfill their secure remote access needs,” said Eric Paulak, research vice president at Gartner, Inc. “IT departments have also discovered that designing, deploying and managing secure remote access solutions takes specialized knowledge and significant resources. Managed service providers alleviate this complexity by expertly delivering comprehensive solutions with around-the-clock support.”

TManage’s clientless SSL VPN service utilizes extensive encryption, authentication and policy control mechanisms to ensure strong enterprise network security while increasing worker productivity through “anytime-anywhere” access to mission critical business information. In most cases no reconfiguration of the corporate firewall is required because it uses the standard SSL port that is configured to allow network traffic in enterprise networks.

“SSL-based VPNs fill a specific need that more traditional IPSec-based VPNs do not – the need for support cost reductions and ease-of-use security improvements for certain users,” said John Moshier, senior vice president of customer solutions at TManage. “After several months of evaluation, testing and development, and with increasing customer interest in such a solution, we selected Neoteris’ market-leading IVE platform to deliver our initial SSL-based Remote Access VPN service.”

Larry Link, vice president of sales at Neoteris, added, “Partnering with an industry leader such as TManage underscores our commitment to having a strong managed service offering. We are confident that TManage’s proven solutions, processes and support capabilities are ideal for meeting the complete end-to-end remote networking needs of our joint customers.”
