GSA Standardizes on Datakey Smart Card Technology For Employee Smart ID Badges

MINNEAPOLIS, November 18, 2003 -Datakey Inc. (OTCBB: DKEY; www.datakey.com), a leading developer of information security software products that simplify and secure access to corporate information systems, today announced that it was selected for delivery of its smart card technology to the US General Services Administration (GSA) as the foundation of the GSA’s updated ID Program. Datakey’s products were selected for their broad interoperability, strong security and user convenience.

The GSA will use Datakey’s client software and smart card products that comply with current US Government standards including the Government Smart Card – Interface Specification (GSC-IS). These products enable GSA to secure access to both physical facilities and computing resources with a single smart ID badge. Conformance with government standards ensures that the deployed solution will interoperate across all government agencies that adopt smart ID access solutions.

“We are honored to be selected by another US Government agency as a part of the continuing effort to strengthen US homeland security,” said Tim Russell, Datakey’s president and CEO. “The selection by GSA is another example of Datakey’s leadership position with US Federal Civilian agency’s smart ID programs.”
