Sparda-Datenverarbeitung Implements Comprehensive E-Mail Security With Utimaco Safeware’s Secure-Mail Gateway
Oberursel, 22th January 2004 – Sparda-Datenverarbeitung eG, IT service provider to the Spardabanken, the PSD Banken (post savings and loans banks)and the NetBank, has signed a contract with Utimaco Safeware for securing the e-mail traffic, for up to 8,000 users. The contract, including an extensive service package, involves a combination of the SecurE-Mail Gateway solution and individual custom extensions for Sparda-Datenverarbeitung.
With Utimaco Safeware’s SecurE-Mail Gateway, e-mails can be encrypted and decrypted, digitally signed and verified at one central location in the corporate network. This process is invisible to the user and requires no additional e-mail security software on the workstation. The Software Appliance concept, with a hardened operating system and its own CA (Certification Authority) for S/MIME and OpenPGP provides many ways in which security concepts can be implemented for corporate internal and external e-mail traffic.
Sparda-Datenverarbeitung was looking for a solution with which its demanding security policy and performance requirements could be met. At the same time, the solution needed to be flexible enough to handle the increasing number of users, and their requirements, effectively. Norbert Raum-Deinzer, in Sparda-Datenverarbeitung’s Server Process Management department, explained: “Utimaco Safeware impressed us with its product and its solution design. Its comprehensive and secure concept, ease of use and excellent performance convinced us, as did the fact that it is such good value for money. These criteria are especially important for us, and for meeting our customer’s solution requirements.”
