Forum Systems’ XWall to Support Microsoft ISA Server 2004

SAN FRANCISCO, RSA 2004 (Booth #1726), Feb. 25 — Forum Systems, Inc., leading provider of trust management and threat protection Web services security solutions, today announced integration for its XWall Web Services Firewall with the Microsoft Internet Security and Acceleration Server (ISA) 2004, which will be released later this year. XWall will be offered as an add-on component to the ISA Server 2004 with its beta release this year.

Enterprises are at risk to the growing class of security threats targeted at Web services and Web-based applications, and today’s network firewalls do not recognize these new content layers. Customers will benefit from an integrated application and Web services firewall that can be seamlessly deployed and managed while consolidating infrastructure for comprehensive and cost-effective security.

“As more firms adopt Web services and XML to conduct business, the Microsoft ISA Server 2004 will be a great foundation — and XWall is the perfect complement. With this integrated firewall approach, enterprises are assured that integrity is maintained as confidential information flows across the company to external partners,” said Wes Swenson, president and CEO, Forum Systems.

Every Web site is becoming a Web service. Everyone from Yahoo! to small- and mid-sized businesses is adopting it for simplified online customer service and supply chain applications. Leading analysts project it will be the dominant model for new development projects in 2004. But Web services magnify security threats because they fling the network door wide open to all outsiders, exposing enterprises to a new breed of hidden XML viruses, denial of Web service attacks and data invasions. These threats are far more dangerous than any we have seen.

“Microsoft believes the XWall(TM) functionality can be an important component in securing Web services and we look forward to its availability as a complementary add-on for Microsoft ISA Server 2004,” said David Gardner, Business Development Manager in the Security Business and Technology Unit at Microsoft Corp.

About XWall(TM)
XWall(TM) is the industry’s first Web Services Firewall with XML Intrusion Prevention (XIP) — the only way to protect against hidden Web services threats. XWall(TM) dynamically enforces the security, integrity and availability of Web services with a rules-based engine for setting comprehensive perimeter policies: XML Intrusion Prevention (XIP) detects and prevents against malicious use; Web Services Control decides “who, what, where and how” can gain access; and Web Services Data Integrity to check XML and SOAP messages for data and format conformance. XWall(TM) for ISA Server 2004 is available in software for $2,500. XWall(TM) is also available in standalone PCI blade and hardware options.
