(ISC)2 Events Launched To Deliver Information Security Continuing Professional Education

PALM HARBOR, Fla., Aug. 1911, 2004 – The International Information Systems Security Certification Consortium (ISC)2®, the non-profit international leader in its 15th year of educating, qualifying and certifying information security professionals worldwide, today launched (ISC)2 Events, a program designed to provide opportunities for constituents to earn the Continuing Professional Education (CPE) credits required to maintain certification, and for all information security professionals to stay current with industry issues and solutions.

(ISC)2 Events is comprised of half-day and one-day seminars with a keynote breakfast and panel the following morning. In addition, two- to three-day symposia, and three- to four-day conferences, will be held worldwide throughout the year, produced in partnership with Reed Exhibitions as the Security Leadership Conference Series. Tracks, topics and speakers will offer subject matter relevant to the domains of the (ISC)2 CBK®, the compendium of industry best practices (ISC)2 developed and maintains.

“(ISC)2’s CPE requirement sets the CISSP (Certified Information Systems Security Professional) and SSCP (Systems Security Certified Practitioner) apart from other security certifications and ensures that professionals remain well-versed in the most timely issues in information security,” said James E. Duffy, CISSP, president and chief executive officer for (ISC)2.

“The launch of (ISC)2 Events extends the range of services we offer our constituents to earn CPEs and provides career development and professional growth opportunities for all information security experts and practitioners worldwide,” Duffy said.

Evan Shubin, former vice president of sales and marketing for the Consumer Electronics Show (CES), will lead (ISC)2 Events as global conference director. The initial (ISC)2 event, titled “Securing Your IT Infrastructure,” is scheduled for Sept. 14 in Indianapolis. The inaugural Reed/(ISC)2 Security Leadership Conference Series event will be held Oct. 18-19, 2004 in Arlington, Texas.

“In addition to providing opportunities for CISSPs® and SSCPs® to earn CPEs, (ISC)2 Events offers professionals a chance to interact with leading industry experts, expand their peer networks and learn more about the latest information security policies, practices and trends,” Shubin said.
