Trapeze Networks Expands European Presence To Keep Up With Growing Demand For Enterprise Wireless LAN Deployments

PLEASANTON, Calif. – Aug. 31, 2004 – Trapeze Networks, maker of award-winning wireless local area networking (WLAN) systems, today reported that its sales presence in the EMEA region grew by 25 percent, citing continued market preference for its Mobility Systemâ„? wireless LAN products, a strong increase in sales activity, and a growing, aggressive channel presence.

In the past few weeks, Trapeze signed agreements with several EMEA resellers, including ACAL and Imtech Telecom in the Netherlands, AVNET in Germany and Intelsis in Spain. With these partners, and a recently announced OEM partnership with 3Com, Trapeze is fast becoming a dominant force in the burgeoning enterprise WLAN market.

Trapeze has been very successful throughout Europe, the United Kingdom, the Middle East and Africa since entering the market in mid-2003 and continues to see rapid market penetration of its WLAN products through its world-class European sales channel.

Trapeze added over 100 new customers in 2004, thanks to its channel partnerships throughout the world. New EMEA customers include prestigious companies such as Behr-Hella Thermocontrol, Manchester Airport, Musikhaus Thomann, Allianz Group, Linde AG, The European Business School in Germany, Lausanne Palace Hotel and Spa, Telindus, Independent Television News (ITN) and Tameside Metropolitan Borough Council.

In addition to new channel partnerships, Trapeze has hired two sales managers and expanded its pre-sales support team to accommodate the recent growth in wireless deployments.

Sales managers Mark Appel and Serge Makowski are now responsible for driving business development and channel relationships in Benelux and the Southern European region, which includes France, Spain, Portugal, Italy, Greece, Turkey and Israel, respectively. Reinhard Mueller joins as pre-sales support manager for Central Europe, providing 24×7 support for the local Trapeze customer base.

“Our business strategy is based on forming strategic partnerships with resellers who have an established reputation in the WLAN and LAN sector,” said Kees van Veenendaal, vice president of sales and managing director of Trapeze Networks EMEA. “This approach has paid off over the past year and we are confident our market share will continue to increase as the enterprise market discovers the benefits of WLAN technology.”
