Qualys Bundles New Scanner Appliance with QualysGuard On Demand Vulnerability Management Service
Redwood Shores, CA – September 7, 2004 — Qualys, Inc., the leading provider of on demand vulnerability management solutions, today released a new version of its QualysGuard Scanner Appliance. This new appliance is now offered as a part of QualysGuard Enterprise, Express and Consultant and includes a lifetime warranty valid for the duration of the renewable QualysGuard subscription.
“Qualys’ on demand service model eliminated the time, resource and capital constraints we found with traditional software-based vulnerability management solutions, while providing a far more comprehensive solution and significantly better accuracy. We were able to consolidate the security assessment and remediation tasks of our entire global organization within hours of subscribing to QualysGuard, and with no upfront IT investment,” said Randolph Barr, Director of Information Security for WebEx Communications. “By integrating the scanner into our subscription, Qualys has made it even easier to deploy such a powerful solution.”
Qualys’ on demand model enables customers to easily map network topology, and run unlimited and automated vulnerability audits from any location via a Web browser. Customized reports with trend analysis for different users and reporting needs can be easily created, all with no infrastructure to deploy or database to administer. QualysGuard gives CIOs, CSOs and IT Directors the ability to assess the security status of the organization as a whole, as well as by business unit or asset group, and assign remediation priority based on the value of the asset to the operation of the business.
“Thanks to our unique on demand technology we have been able to significantly improve the immediacy, accuracy and functionality of vulnerability management while giving our customers trouble-free global deployment and a maintenance-free solution that requires no capital expenditure,” said Philippe Courtot, Chairman and CEO of Qualys. “Bundling the scanner appliance with Qualys’ service takes our model to the next level and further meets the needs of our customers.”
Developed in-house by Qualys’ dedicated engineering team, the new QualysGuard Scanner Appliance gives customers an optimized solution for fast, efficient network scanning of both small networks and large global distributed systems. This secured appliance embeds Qualys’ proprietary inference-based scanning engine for network discovery and security analysis and the communication software for automatic and transparent updates of vulnerability signatures, upgrades and system health checks.
The zero-maintenance appliance requires no servers, and all operating system and application updates are automatic through the QualysGuard service. Appliances, which can be drop-shipped to troubled areas and up and running in minutes, include a lifetime warranty valid for the duration of the renewable QualysGuard subscription. The compact, portable design makes it effortless for auditors and consultants to travel with and deploy, yet its standard 1-u form factor makes it ideal for rack mounting.
The new QualysGuard Scanner Appliance is available immediately to customers as a part of their QualysGuard Enterprise, Express, or Consultant subscriptions. An upgrade path is available for existing Qualys appliance users.
