Fortune 10 Manufacturing Company Selects Pointsec to Provide Mobile Device Security
Newmarket, UK, January 17, 2005 – Pointsec, the worldwide de facto standard for mobile device security, today announced that one of the world’s largest manufacturers has selected Pointsec as its global enterprise supplier to protect sensitive financial and customer data stored on desktops and laptops. During 2004 the company placed orders with a total value of £427,000 (USD 800,000) of which £75,000 (USD 140,000) was recognised in the fourth quarter and the remainder was recognised earlier in the year.
“A growing body of regulations and legal precedents-including the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act, California Senate Bill 1386, and Sarbanes-Oxley-create potentially large liabilities for enterprises handling confidential or vital information,” said Peter Larsson, CEO of Pointsec. “That risk is intensified when confidential data is stored on mobile devices that are easily lost or stolen. By standardising on Pointsec as its global partner for mobile device security, this major manufacturer is mitigating its risk of exposure and strengthening its ability to ensure solid regulatory compliance.”
Pointsec deliveries to the company began in Q1, 2004, and additional orders are expected throughout 2005 as the manufacturer deploys the mobile device security solution across the enterprise. The company will use Pointsec to secure workstations and laptops in its financial organizations and subsidiaries around the world.
Pointsec’s industry-leading security solution offers non-intrusive, quick, and seamless data encryption, ensuring that confidential data stored on any kind of portable computing device remains private and secure. As a result, the enterprise can take full advantage of today’s mobile workplace, thereby removing the worry that critical data or important credentials will go unprotected. With Pointsec, only authorized users are granted access to the private company information, whether in the office or in the field.
Pointsec is the worldwide de facto standard for mobile device security – with the most customers deployed, highest level of certification, and more complete device coverage than any other company. Pointsec delivers a trusted solution for automatic data encryption that guarantees proven protection at the most vulnerable point where sensitive enterprise data is stored – on mobile devices. By securing sensitive information stored on laptops, PDAs, smartphones, and removable media, enterprises and government organizations can protect and enhance their image, minimize risk, shield confidential data, guard information assets, and strengthen public and shareholder confidence. Pointsec’s customers include blue chip companies and government organizations around the world. Founded in 1988, Pointsec Mobile Technologies AB is a wholly owned subsidiary of Protect Data AB, publicly traded (PROT) on the Stockholm stock exchange.
