McKesson Corporation Selects Authenex for Identity and Network Access Management

HAYWARD, Calif., – January 19, 2005 – Authenex, a leading provider of strong authenticated e-security solutions, today announced that McKesson Corporation has chosen Authenex to provide the Authenex Strong Authentication System (ASAS) for strong two-factor authentication of its corporate networks and enterprise applications.

McKesson is the world’s leading healthcare services and information technology company and is currently ranked 16 on the Fortune 500.

“Network security is a paramount concern at McKesson and we chose Authenex ASAS as part of our overall IT strategy to guarantee that enterprise data and applications are safeguarded against unauthorized access,” said Daniel Crespo-Dubie, Vice President, Telecommunications, McKesson Corporation. “We selected Authenex because they understood the specific security needs of a large, global corporation like McKesson. We were also impressed with the versatility and scalability of the Authenex A-Key.”

McKesson is currently deploying the Authenex solution to its domestic workforce and will begin deployment for its United Kingdom offices in the near future. McKesson chose ASAS because it seamlessly integrates with the company’s existing remote access infrastructure; offers a Web Management Console that empowers McKesson administrators to control all aspects of server, database and user profiles from a simple web interface; and the ability to use a single A-Key as a stand-alone One-Time Password (OTP) device or as a USB based token for authentication. And with a single A-Key, administrators are also able to access redundant servers and manage user A-Keys, eliminating the need to carry multiple tokens. In addition, the added A-Key functionality of secure memory storage, PKI capabilities and future plug-and play total mobility function allows for maximum scalability. As part of the PKI token functionality, the “driverless” feature of the A-Key is very important to McKesson. This will allow the mobile workforce to use any computer with a USB port without preinstalled driver software.

“The security needs of a company the size and scope of McKesson are different from those of other companies and organizations, and companies of this magnitude need solutions that can scale and grow with the enterprise,” said Paul Lin, CEO of Authenex. “We worked closely with McKesson to develop a solution that addressed their unique security needs and look forward to working with McKesson for future security needs.”
