BigFix, Senforce Partnership Expands Endpoint Security Management For Distributed Enterprises

Emeryville, Calif. and Draper, Utah—May 24, 2005—BigFix Inc. and Senforce Technologiesâ„? Inc. today announced a technology partnership to provide improved security and configuration management of mobile workforces for large enterprises and government organizations.

The increasing number of mobile employees across extended enterprises creates a critical IT management challenge in ensuring operational continuity and security. By 2006, two-thirds of U.S. employees will be mobile in nature, often working while on the road or from the home, according to IDC Research. Moreover, notebook computers are expected to represent roughly half of all PC shipments in the United States by 2007, IDC predicts.

Together, BigFix and Senforce safeguard mobile and desktop systems—ensuring corporate assets, software configurations and employee productivity are not compromised—by enforcing security and standards at all times through policy-based software configuration management. The integrated BigFix and Senforce solutions maintain endpoint security on mobile and desktop PCs even if the systems aren’t connected to a network, and simplify enterprise-wide security configuration management within single departments or across global enterprises.

“We are pleased our partnership with Senforce will deliver a solution that ensures customers are secure and in compliance no matter where and when they connect to the network,” said Gregory Toto, vice president of product management, BigFix.

“Senforce provides a powerful approach to endpoint security and wireless security. Our joint customers will benefit from a complete solution, which includes continuous assessment, enforcement and remediation using BigFix’s technology, proven in large-scale enterprise installations today.”

“BigFix and Senforce are jointly addressing customers’ security needs through this unique relationship,” said Mike Hall, president and CEO, Senforce. “Through our combined efforts, Senforce and BigFix stand ready to proactively safeguard enterprise endpoints, whether they are mobile systems or desktop computers.”

Senforce is the newest complementary technology partner to join BigFix’s Assess, Remediate, Connect (ARC) program, which provides the framework for a comprehensive set of solutions to deploy, manage and enforce secure configurations on mobile, remote and guest computers.

Key points of integration between the BigFix and Senforce solutions include:

Enforcement of BigFix security configuration management policies with Senforce’s NDIS-layer firewall, Wi-Fi security, and other endpoint security features.
Automated quarantine: When the BigFix assessment identifies endpoints out of compliance with corporate security policies, Senforce’s software automatically quarantines those endpoints while remediation takes place. BigFix’s intelligent agent then assures the endpoint achieves compliance with application and operating system updates.
